Scarperia, in the Mugello Valley is a charming village at the foothills of the Tuscan Apennines, founded in 1306 by the will of the Florentine Republic as last stronghold to defend the city on the only crossroads of the time between Florence and Bologna. Since the fifteenth century, Scarperia has developed a strong concentration of craft activities based on the production of agricultural tools, knives, blades and cutting tools, so that even today it is internationally known as “The City of Knives”. To live the fascination of the ancient times, it’s enough to get lost in the paved streets of this pleasant village enchanted by the picturesque view of the old town, on which stands the proud Palazzo de’ Vicari, symbol of the town and home of the Knives and Cutting Tools Museum.
