It is an area rich in settlements dating from Etruscan and Roman times, with historical and artistic heritage of great importance. It boasts many Romanesque churches and abbeys.
The village of Torri is certainly worth a visit, with the abbey of Vallombrosa and its Romanesque cloister offering three floors of breathtakingly rich and elegant architecture.
